One of the Zombie-Nation skulls was a re-design of the peruvian hardcore-punk band Desarme. This year the band celebrate their 25th anniversary, so I decided to make their skull part of my zombie-nation series.

Suddendly, the band liked my concept and ask me to complete the new skull with hands and missiles as the original logo artwork was. I mean, the old-school Desarme logo. So I put it to work, using as a start the same sketch for Zombie-Nation, then I draw the skull hands holding the missiles and complete the composition adding a roman "D" surrounded with a laurel crown. And after that I draw an ink drawing of Lima city silhouette as a background. That's all.

Again, pencil sketch, blablabla, scan, illustrator, inks, brushes, cardboard, again a scanner, more blablabla, a mouse and PC.

This is the Zombie-Nation skull #5 I made for the collection.
I like old-school punk and metal flyers and posters and I had a personal archive with some samples of like 20 years ago (also fanzines and magazines too), so I scanned the original logo to get a start.
Then I played with some composition with the skull I already made before and sketching the 2 hands with missiles. First with a pencil, later I used a marker felt tip pen to define the shapes, shadows and details I want to keep for the final drawing.
Once I have the scan ready, I begin with the vector drawing of the hands and missiles, adding some details like a latin text as the band want it to.
Do you see that black shape? that's the basic shape, later I add the white shapes to form the hands, and left the details at the end.
Once the idea was finished and to get something for the background I made a ink draw by hand, and left as image. That will add some texture to the vector illustration.
And after some tests we decided to get rid of the nuclear bomb and the San Cristobal mount, leaving only the city (and the tie below the laurel crown was erased too, we wanted no xmas crown here).
The final artwork that will be the new album cover of the band.
And as both missiles has text on them (one has a latin text "pax non est sed erit / Peace doesn´t exist but will be", and the other has the HxC1988 of the band's debut), I put also my "corpz" signature as a scratch/detail on the side of them. \m/
Also, the band release some hoodies!
