As graphic design itself functions to represent an idea through text and image, it is interesting to explore where that particular representation originated. Was it from the first page of a Google search, or hidden deep in the pages of the Library's restricted section? This then brings up the discussion of originality, how well are our sources hidden from the mainstream eye? Are they purely from our minds? Is anything purely originated?
This animation is entirely a representation of my spirit animal. One main idea behind this video is to show representations of the spirit animal without showing the animal itself. While I do depict an actual cat in my video, it is an ambiguous shot compared to typical photos of cats. The overall video focuses on the sensuality of a cat, as it addresses all five senses in the video. As an artist and designer, I am attuned to my senses and often use them to my best advantage. The challenge behind this assignment was to complete one animation a day for 23 days. While some of my animations were either hand drawn or recorded on my DSLR, it was interesting to see the natural flow of the sequence after I compiled the 23 pieces into a single animation.
