Emphasis and Focal Point:For this project, I wanted to create 2 completely different pieces of work. I did this because I thought I would be able to show a stronger understanding of both prompts.
My piece on the left has a clear focal point of the treasure chest. I achieved this by darkening the surrounding areas. I then added a submarine projecting a beam of light which leads your eyes directly to the treasure chest. I also added a yellow outer glow to the treasure chest to make an even stronger focal point.
My piece on the right however has much more going on and lacks a clear focal point. I achieved this by leaving no white space. I kept everything in close proximity in order to keep the viewer’s eye moving. I also made it so the birds and the tree on top are pointing off the page to draw the viewer’s attention off the page.
Map collage: for my map collage I decided to use all kinds of different maps from around the world. The background and Rose are complementary colors, and I added a gaussian blur to the background to make your eyes focus on the rose more clearly.
Self-portrait: Here is my self-portrait it was very tough to get started with this project, I started with my inner self which is shown on the left I have been in some very dark places and I tried to show that with the dark circles covering up most of the side where the circles stop symbolizes loss and question marks inside resemble grief. the mountains in the back symbolize the challenges I have faced in my life. and then if you look at the right of my drawing that is my outer self I think I am loud, bold, and very random I drew a speaker to try and show loudness. the tree at the bottom is a Celtic family symbol and I chose to put that there because family is very important to me. I also drew the Italian horn to show my Italian side.
Rhythm and color in music: For my project, I chose the song "The Less I Know The Better" by Tame Impala. I choose this song because I was able to break it down into 3 main instruments, which include a guitar, a drum, and a piano. I chose to do warm colors for the guitar, and the drum. however, for the piano, I used a cool and a warm color to show the different keys the piano plays. The symbol i choose to represent the guitar was a lightning bolt-like shape, I choose this shape because I thought it was a strong representation of how the guitar notes being played climb. For the drum, I made a more loose shape because I feel like the drums had almost an echo to them. I then used sharp-edged squares to represent the Piano because it is a very smooth and flat sound.
Chaos vs Focal point
My piece shown on the left has a clear focal point, that being the purple triangle in the center of the page I achieved this by using an opposite color in the triangle than the background. i also only used the triangle once to make it stand out even more
However, my piece on the right is absolute chaos i achieved this by overlapping shapes and using a wide range of colors. i also added a spiral gradient to the backround to make it even less in unison.
This is my Tesselation's project. While working on this project I learned that not all shapes tessellate. There are only 3 shapes that do, the triangle, the rectangle, and the hexagon. I used a triangle as my starting shape and ended up with what I call “The Summer  Sun”. I found this project to be challenging. It was hard to figure out how to make the shapes fit together seemlessly.  In order to create depth in my piece I added a radial gradient to the background.
I think M.C Escher’s work on tessellations is interesting because of all the possibilities it creates you can make stunning mosaics simply. Echer also learns that people and animals are more recognizable than simple shapes so he transforms his art into all those things to explore more intricate designs
for my motion project, I decided to make “anxiety” this piece is supposed to be overwhelming and chaotic and I achieved this by overlapping layers in a chaotic way, and having my main focal point repeated helps add to that chaotic feeling. I added a film grain over the whole piece to give it a very unpleasant feeling.
For my storyboard I wanted to make a meteor crashing into the moon I started out by drawing the shapes I wanted to use and then imported them into illustrator. I wanted to give this project a really simple look which can sometimes be hard for me and I think I did pretty well achieving that.
