Production Design for Feature (Canterville Ghost)

University Project - Period Drama

Brief:
To produce the production design for part of a single camera drama production for TV or film of the satire “The Canterville Ghost” by Oscar Wilde.

Using the short story as if it were the basis for a screenplay, each student will develop a thorough understanding of the narrative and interpretation of the text. All exteriors will be shot on location. An exterior location will be sourced and documented by the student. One composite interior studio set will be designed which directly relates to this exterior in such a way that the transition from exterior location shots to interior studio set is seamless and completely believable. The performers’ action in relation to the space needs to be considered and will inform the design of individual sets; this will be supported by a storyboard of 15 shots minimum. Consideration must be given to, camera and crew access and positions, lighting and other technical factors.
