This mother had a rare form of cancer and her daughters arranged a fundraising event for her.  The event raised over 5,000 dollars for the mothers treatment.  

This was the cover story of the day: because of the Queensland floods, the prices of milk, meat and vegetables raised and supplies were scare.  The women in this photo did not know when they were going to get their next shipment of bread because trucks were unable to make it to deliver.  

Joan celebrated her 105 birthday.  She has lived through an entire century and still has all of her teeth and does not need glasses to read.  It was a great event to attend.
