The world of fashion is intense, ever-changing, and complex. The inner-workings, the trends, and the names are much more accessible to so many people now with the advancing technology right at our fingertips. With platforms like Instagram, a simple mirror selfie can be considered fashion photography. For those of us who are not sitting front row at Fashion week, we can still see what changes are happening, and what new directions the industry is taking.

These images are inspired by Henri and Jules Seeberger and their staged images of the elite. The pair pushed boundaries of fashion photography at the turn of the century by choosing to photograph outside. I particularly like their work because it has more of a street photography feel to it, and we can see the expression of fashion out in the real world as opposed to in a studio.

My series, Front Row, is influenced by the fast-paced digital world we are living in, our heightened exposure to creativity through fashion, music, and art online, and the capacity to share unique and personal artistic expression. I thought of the photographers I follow on Instagram that inspire me; Mario Sorrenti, Tyler Mitchell, and Amber Asaly come, immediately, to mind. These are all fashion photographers who give their own unique touch to fashion photography. I wanted to take the inspiration I have absorbed through the art I am exposed to on a regular basis, across different mediums such as social media and music that I love and apply that to this series. If art is a world of shared experiences based on the ever-changing trends and aesthetically pleasing visuals, sounds, and concepts, then I want to be a part of it.
