Raise Vibration

Raise Vibration is no. 06 of the Heroes B-sides series. This is a digital art print on canvas, 120/80cm, limited & signed 1/5. This is my second portrait of Lenny Kravitz.  In the first image I surrounded Lenny with butterflies and now I chose to place him in a field of poppy flowers.  A hippie child or in his own words, a flower child in a field of joy!

The butterflies and poppy flowers are not a coincidence. Kravitz combined his talent with engagement, idealism and a message of love. Which seems rare these days as commercialism rules more than ever in the music industries. Me, I grave for music that is drenched with personality and activism. It goes a bit deeper than a nice tune. It has an essence to it. As a visual artist my personal views and beliefs are totally intertwined with my art. I would not know how not to get it intertwined anyway.  Or like Nina Someone once said; “ how can you be an artist and not reflect time’.
I believe that there is a surplus value added to art, any art, when it is rooted in society.  I also believe that we are constantly influenced by what we consume physically and mentally. Like music or images that are communicating aggression and fear and therefore cause a hype of aggression and anxiety, a simple message of love, peace and solidarity can cause a wave of tolerance and open minds. At least that is how I see it. And if it doesn’t help, it doesn’t harm for sure.
