Annual Report 2020 - Clyde & Co
For the 2020 Annual Report of Clyde & Co, a new identity was developed. We still needed to respect the look and feel of the law firm, but we want to go one step further by playing with graphic patterns, a creative approach that hasn't been done before at C&C. 
The years 2019 and 2020 were challenging in the UK. Lots of political and economic changes that have affected the country in many ways, which somehow, needed to be represented.

Through the illustration we wanted to symbolised the complexity of current times and the constructive teaching that they can provide us, helping us to better adapt to changes and providing an optimistic vision to the situation.

Following the lively and positive illustrative style of the brand, it is a representation of Clyde & Co’s optimistic response to a complex and demanding period. 

Each shape represents adversity and challenging situations, that combine all together to create a pattern; a beautiful composition as a positive outcome.
In the illustration above, you can see the shape of the figures "20", referring to the year that is studied in the report.

Being an extensive document that had to be circulated to many partners and associates, the idea of making a digital document was chosen.

For this reason, and because it was going to be a document mainly consulted on computer screens - according to a survey - we decided to implement the Full HD format for better navigation and consultation for the user.
The client's briefing referred to the need for fast navigation, since it is a document with many pages, and the user should be able to navigate in a fast and intuitive way through it.

As a solution, it was decided to include a navigation bar on the left, with a 
functional and concise navigation to each significant section (represented by icons), that will bring the user to a specific part of the document, saving time and making the document more intuitive.

Also, a more digital-focussed layout emphasises the content, designed for the varied information (infographics vs. copy-based analysis), and for the users to easily journey through the report in a clean, clear and straight-forward way.
As it is a document with a lot of data and with very detailed information on very specific topics, many infographics were required to explain all those data in a more clear and visual way.
The design that has been implemented to create them, respects the Clyde & Co brand guidelines, using their colors and icons and adapting the design to the new style and layout used for the creation of this document.

In order to keep consistency throughout the report, a different cover was created for each section of the document, which plays with the same pattern style created for the main cover.

The Annual Report document is an example of how a brand like Clyde & Co, which has very solid and extensive brand guidelines, is capable of adapting its style to new requirements and formats, by adapting their rules and making the brand evolve and grow; making C&C more accessible to the needs of the user and new business requirements.
