Screamin' Beans
For this project, we were to create and brand a company. We were prompted to showcase our passions in while completing this project. I wanted to showcase my passion for illustration through the design of different characters for the company mascot.
I came up with a coffee company, Screamin' Beans, that sells ground coffee. I created a character that serves as a mascot for this company. The mascot is a screaming coffee bean, which fits right in with the name of the company. My goal was to create different versions of the mascot that would go along with the different flavors of coffee. For example, I showed the mascot holding a carved pumpkin over its head for the pumpkin spice flavored coffee.
I wanted this company to stand out from its competitors by offering different vibe to the brand. Other coffee companies are usually very simple and straight forward with their branding and packaging with very minimal illustration and visuals. Screamin' Beans has a fun and comical atmosphere that catches the eye of the consumer all while keeping the branding and packaging simple. The package design for the bag of ground coffee has a simple yet visually interesting layout. The different directions of text provides variation and the eye is lead to different parts of the package as a result of the mascot covering two sides of the package.
