The latest project we made in collaboration with architect Manuela Hardy to show you how to quickly create great, high quality commercial images. Let's start with PC configuration, Intel Core i9 7980X is a good processor that uses 18 cores/36 threads, but CPU rendering is an old and not progressive technology (at least for now) if I decided to use it in our project, according my experience it would take about 2-4 hours a shot! It's too slow, so I decided to use GPU rendering again, which is more accurate, realistic and very very fast choice. RTX 3090 gives me the ability to take every shot for 8-15 mins! All five images took 40-45 minutes. Super fast! And it's not with only final rendering, interactive mode works perfectly and gives you more options to create high quality renderings. But, there is only one problem with GPUs, which have low GBs (usually 6-11Gb), which is not enough for large and detailed professional CG scenes. That was before, now we have over 24 Gbs! so we can create much larger and more detailed worlds for architecture, how cool is that? :D
As for the scene, as always, I used a slightly cold and soft HDRI map (smooth sky, sun reduced) and a hard, separate sun here to simulate an early morning on the northern part of the country. Materials took longer than I expected, it was important to make exactly the same dark wood cladding that client wanted, and also to make the material more "individual for each wood plank" that wouldn't be repeated regardless of the size of the building. It's a complex composite material that includes 8k maps (detailed shots below show this at the best quality).
