Everything is bigger in Texas...and in this case, that means river canyons and desert mountains! It easy to see why this park has been booming in popularity recently with it's almost 9,000 foot mountains that pop up seemingly out of nowhere and magnificent canyons carved along the Rio Grande. Even driving down the old Texas highway to get to the park seems to transplant you back years and gives you that wild western feel. Perhaps my favorite moment was standing at Emory Peak with a bunch of strangers, looking across the Rio Grande into Mexico, and pondering how we see the river as a political border, but nature sees no borders, enjoy!
