Each story is reinterpreted through expressive typography to create an impression of a playful spirit or yokai tampering with the text and the contents of the book.
No two stories are styled the same way to express the idea of the book's "being alive" and the individuality of the spirits that inhabit it.
Three distinct typographic styles are featured: a classical serif type is used for body copy to hint at the book being over 100 years old, a horror-esque display type used for headings to support the horror nature of the stories and some handwritten elements to add further emphasis and character to the publication.
