Editorial Design
The aim of this editorial design project was to generate an interested in people towards learning theory of music, which is perceived as a complicated and boring subject. Unearthing the insight that the best way to make people interested in learning is not preaching, but teaching, this book was designed to teach fundamentals of music theory to beginners in an interesting and interactive manner.
The interactive cover utilises an elastic belt with 5 elastic threads representing the 5 lines of the musical staff. The circular cut-out underneath the elastic threads was inspired by string instruments such as the guitar and ukulele. More interactive pages and pop-ups were integrated into the book to maintain an engaging experience throughout the learning process.
This is a handmade book with all illustrations and the title font being hand drawn, scanned and digitally manipulated.
