Alcubierre Vessel: IXS Aquarius
The inspiration for this came from the work of Miguel Alcubierre and NASA's Harold G. White, with their intertwined creation of the IXS Enterprise. Some people choose cars as their first vehicle, I chose a spacecraft. The notion is one of either a second generation Alcubierre drive vessel, or a sister ship to the Enterprise.
The first rough render which emerged at the modelling stage of the project.
The underside which sports a section of structure to the underside of the forward dish, which was remodelled in the final construct, after I learned the principle of making a sphere from a cube..(!?). Yep you read that right.
The final basic touches included crafting the port and starboard lighting, some decal naming detail (created in Affinity Designer and brought into the model via UV unwrapping) and interior/exterior lighting to enhance its form. It also included replacing the forward dish, replacing the sphere with a cube, believe it or not.. tidier topology!
