RUNIC
Typography Project
is a design communication project aimed to re-born a non-latin writing system.
After reaserching through hundreds of non-latin writing system I've decided to explore the 'Runic' system.

Runic alphabet is traditionally known as futharkafter the first six letters. In Old Norse the word rune means 'letter', 'text' or 'inscription'. The word also means 'mystery' or 'secret' in Old Germanic languages and runes had an important role in ritual and magic used in prayers and curses.

The Old Runic Alphabet

I begin to experiment with the characther form of each Runic letter and testing out possible typographic styles. After sketching, and exploring countless possibilities of forms I've decided to develop the 'Runic' into a more 'classical' and ' richer' look. While working I was inspired with various shapes, animals and forms. The most noticeable feature of the last type I've chose to work with, was the inspiration from a the frog's anatomy (focused more on their legs). The exact species are the neotropical frogs
called 'Red-eyed frog', found in Central America rainforests.
