Character Design

Above is a poster design for the booth where I sell books, featuring characters from some of the stories I've told (and a few I still have to tell).

There are few tasks I like more than developing new characters for a story. There's an infinite palette of personalities available to draw from, and each character has something unique to say about where they've been and where they're going. I love digging into a character's backstory and letting their clothing and bearing define who they are. Below are a few of the characters I've designed for my stories.
Oblio and Arrow from the 1971 film of Harry Nilsson's concept album, The Point.
A character originally designed by the Czech illustrator and animator Jiri Trnka, featured in the short film "Ruka".

A salty sailor character, known as Tom Procrastinator.
