Summary

This 20-min presentation summarises 3.5 years of research conducted during my PhD candidature at the Alzheimer's Disease Genetics Laboratory and Bioinformatics Hub (both at The University of Adelaide).

The manuscripts covered in this presentation include:

Hin, N, Newman, M, Douek AM, Lumsden, A, Zhou, X, Ludington, A, Adelson, DL, Pederson, S, Lardelli, M. (2020). Accelerated brain aging towards transcriptional inversion in a zebrafish model of the K115fs mutation of human PSEN2PLOS ONE. 15(1).

Newman, M, Hin, N, Pederson, S, Lardelli, M. (2019). A familial Alzheimer's disease-like mutation in the zebrafish presenilin 1 gene affects brain energy productionMolecular Brain. 12(43).

Design Notes

I was very happy to have had the opportunity to prepare a presentation that summarised the overall "big picture" of my PhD for an audience with a broad scientific background.  Keeping the time constraints in mind, I chose to present 1-2 key results from each of my manuscripts. As with my previous presentations, animations and graphics were leveraged to explain bioinformatics concepts and analyses and make the overall presentation more engaging. Many of the slides in this presentation were reused from my previous presentations at the Japan-Australia Neurodegenerative Symposium (2019) and COMBINE/ABACBS (2019) presentations.
