Benromach is a traditional Speyside distillery owned by a family of whisky-lovers intent on making single malt by hand to create a unique whisky with genuine character.
There are no computers at Benromach, no buttons to push, no automation, and no stage of production that doesn’t directly require the distillers' expertise. Keith Cruickshank, Benromach’s Distillery Manager, had always said that Benromach whisky is made with four ingredients: barley, water, yeast, and the distillers who make it happen. It's a process true to the original craft, and that craft is at the heart of the company.
To better tell the story of this traditional, honest distillery, the entire portfolio was redesigned, from the core range through to secondary ranges, distillery exclusives and luxury releases. The rebrand was inspired delving back into the history of the distillery itself and the original hand painted signage that had once featured on the old pagoda-style roof. I redrew the signage style to form the new logotype and (credit: PsyOps) created a full Opentype typeface to accompany it. A full set of brand guidelines showing the components, positioning and applications was created, as well as a new photographic library (credit: Armando Ferrari) and brand film.
