"Dope beer for dope people". As Michigan’s first Black Owned brewery, Black Calder's craft beer will be Brewed for the Culture and provide a platform for innovation, art, and inclusion. The owners wanted to pay homage to African roots and needed a logo that represented all this and of course, craft beer! What better way to represent it than with the African goddess of beer and harvest, Mbaba Mwana Waresa. An Easter egg hidden on the left side of her face is a tribute to the Calder sculpture, La Grande Vitesse, of Calder plaza in Grand Rapids.
