What's the connection? An old man sitting in his truck in Taupo New Zealand and the most interesting McDonald's restaurant I have seen.  

The man caught my eye immediately.  I walked by him two or three times wanting to take his photo but not wanting to disturb him.  What the heck?  Nothing ventured...."Excuse me, you look great sitting in your truck - is it OK if I take your photograph please?"  

I listened as the man explained how he had driven into Taupo from his home in the nearby mountains to buy his favourite food...an apple pie from McDonalds.  He told me of his plans to move to a town called Hope in Canada with his wife.  Sadly she had died and he still lived in New Zealand. He liked to chat and was pleased to have his portrait taken.

For me, travel photography often includes people as well as the landscapes.  Looking forward to travelling again soon.
