Senseable is a solution which uses IoT to address the issue of damage caused by bursts or leaking hot water geysers (Boilers) in homes. The solution consists of a telemetry device and sensors attached to the customer's geyser, connected to an app on their mobile phone. 

In the event of a burst or leak, the device detects moisture, shuts off the water and electrical supply to the geyser, limits damage, and automatically initiates a claim process. 

A notification is sent to the customer's mobile app, informing them of the event and the necessary steps. Additionally, the solution allows customers to control their electricity usage through the app, including switching the geyser on and off remotely and setting schedules for temperature and operating hours.

Nedbank Insurance, South Africa won the Innovation of the Year award by developing and deploying an application called “Senseable”, an IoT (Internet of Things) Solution which addresses the issue of excess claims from resultant damage by burst Home Geysers (water heater) which are on the average very high. This also reduces excessive spending by customers - Innovation of the Year 2019 African Insurance awards.

The Senseable device and mobile app won gold for service design at the 2018 Loerie Awards.
