The cafe – previously named Mouthfuls – required a re-brand as it was failing to reach the majority demographic of young long-haired, surf-obsessed, bicycle-riding locals within the iconic Nobby Beach area on the Gold Coast.

As well as designing and re-fitting the cafe, the name was changed 52 Espresso; which originated from the bus stop number outside the shop. This name led to creating the graphic system, beginning with the loyalty cards which have been inspired by London bus tickets from the 1950’s.

Using thick, Australian cotton stocks and wooden stamps, a sustainable alternative has also been created. Without the use of the printing press, cards can be stamped as needed. The stamp is also applied to the bio-degradable takeaway coffee cups.
