Nerpa dog sled are used in conditions of Russian north.
Settled families always keep two or more sledges of different types: one for passengers, one for outing and sightseeing, one for daily needs (cargo one). My project combines this types and is designed to choose number of seats.
Forming reminds us about native inuit transport - sledges drawn by reindeer. And the naming – about traditional trade, totally limited nowadays.
But the Nerpa sledges are adapted for contemporary mode of life and are made of extrahigh tensile materials (aluminium alloy, carbon fiber, frost-hardy rubber).
Amortization is provided by curved and sloping forms, all joints are designed movable, without nails. Durable fabric protects passengers from wind and snowstorm.
Modern technologies made the sledge lighter and design – more suited to human body. But inherently it has an over the centuries tested construction which made it possible to live and hunt in hard natural settings. I hope my project proves necessary to look back to roots when developing smth new.
