Curiosity Killed The Cat. #wk3oneperday2020

This week's daily images involved storytelling - using pen drawing techniques to illustrate a narrative of something that happened during our school years. This was something that almost happened to me during my kindergarten years, which was ages ago, and still gets mentioned by my parents at every family reunion. I love watching my mom cooking ever since I was a little curious kid. One day, as she was cooking, I sneaked on the kitchen island when she turnt away for a few seconds. On the island was a fork - something that is probably very familiar for Australian kids, but not for a Vietnamese kid like me. For reasons I can't remember anymore, I decided that the electrical outlet seemed like a fitting place - quite literally - to hide my new toy. Luckily, my dad caught me just as I was about to stick the fork into the socket, and I got a good beating, unlike my protagonist who comically learnt by experience what electricity is.

For this week's comic strip, I used 5 UniPin 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.5 and 0.8mm pens. I decided that I did not like to shade using something as permanent as a pen - I only ever enjoyed drawing single line drawings using pens. I referenced Cyanide & Happiness' simplistic but hilarious style, as this was also similar something I love drawing - stick figures. I also applied principles of storytelling learnt in both this unit and the film units that I did or currently doing.

Another drawback I encountered during this week's works was my insecurity, which stopped me from making decisive, confident lines, thus resulting in me having redraw multiple times. I ended up doing a version with an HB pencil, then went over the pencil lines with pen.
