The Adams County SPCA requested t-shirt designs for a few upcoming events - one was a wine tasting fundraiser, the other was for sale during the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg. They gave me outlines of what they wanted from the design and I created something to match.
Below are a few more possible concepts for the design - including the one they eventually chose.
My favorite part of the first design is the dog's head. I admit I'm biased, being the owner of a American Staffordshire Terrier, I draw a lot of dogs to look like him. Which is why the second design was pretty challenging. I've never looked very closely at an Irish setter and it was somewhat difficult to decipher what was going on under all that hair in my reference photos. Thankfully, Sally of the 11th PA Voluntary Infantry is a plain old pitbull mutt - my perfect dog muse.
