When exploring the origin of rice, we may have to overread the written history, which in a deeper analysis, is evident that it was manipulated by the elite class writers. While doing so, those writers performed the rice feeding ritual to erase the real history of some unknown hard-working group of people who reaped paddy in fields. Today, these manipulators are attacking the real owners of rice just to preserve the written history of caste hierarchy. They are the ones who strike the mental stability of dalits, tribes and black to make them hungry and to portray them as rice thieves. 'Madhu' didn't steal anything. He just tried to claim what belonged to him. Those who beat him to death performed the rice feeding ritual just to ensure their supremacy. Death is creating and erasing the history at the same time. We, the modern society, perform the obsequial ceremony to many people: to 'Vinayakan' who committed suicide because of the molestation faced for being a black, for growing long hair; to 'Ashanthan' whose dead body was dishonoured by some 'protectors' of God who forcefully removed his body from the temple premises, just because he was born a low caste; to the mothers of stillborn children in Attappadi; to Madhu who stole rice just to fill his stomach once.
