Animals from the Ranch

This is a collection of some of the paintings I created inspired by the animals around me. These are domesticated and wild animals from our ranch in Red Bluff California. It was inspirational to be surrounded by so many types of animals. Red Bluff is cattle country. It has rolling hills of grass, covered with majestic oak trees, and dappled with grazing cattle. One can still find the cowboys working cattle. A traffic jam on my road was cattle being moved to greener pasture across the highway. It involved a couple cowboys on horseback, a herding dog, and a couple hundred head of cattle. The cattle in this collection were ours. I loved seeing the new calves. The paint horse in the painting entitled Labor Day foaled immediately after I captured this moment. The bison is one of my neighbors and the wild boar ran wild everywhere. It was truly a unique experience that I will never forget.
