Solcool, The Ice-Less Ice Chest, was created during my third year in design school. The goal was to design a product using DSC Solar Cells developed at the EPFL Labs in Lausanne, Switzerland.  The original intention of Solcool was to be used for humanitarian aid for off the grid purposed. It's unique design uses solar powered technology and thermal heat-sinkinging to convert energy into cold air.
The original idea stemmed from the inconvenience of keeping perishables cool. Ideally the product would be purchased by consumers and the proceed would go to help benefit off the grid medical uses such as blood transfusions, organ donation, and so on.
