Brand the Uninteresting - Skip Hire

Brief: Take a seemingly uninteresting service, object or occupation and create a brand for it.
 
Concept: Waste disposal is a service that needs to be carried out properly to help ensure the future of our planet. Staff should be specially trained like military personnel to ensure the role is carried out correctly. It is their duty to protect. 
 
Solution: Brand name “Skipper” i.e. the captain of a ship,ties in with the military idea and is also an immediate relation to skips.  The brand marque evolved from the stripes on a captain’s uniform and the brand identity and colour scheme has a nautical influence.
Due to the fact that Skipper operates an environmentally friendly service their stationery will be printed on recycled materials. The application of the logo and wave remains consistent and the use of strong, bold graphic elements and colours, enforces the brands dominant military role, whilst still remaining fun and friendly. 
When applying the brand to the skip lorry a continuous wave will run all the way around.; this creates the sea on which the skip sits. The skips will all be painted to look like boats, with portholes, and each skip will have a different boat name to make the service feel more individual. This also makes the brand again, feel more fun and attract attention from customers.
As a promotional mailout I have used the idea of a ship in a bottle. The mailout is made of plastic and the ship has been replaced with a skip.  The tag has the Skipper logo on the front, and relevant contact information inside.  A QR code will link straight to the app. The language used relates back to the idea of ships with phrases such as, “Trust us, we know the ropes,” and, “Want things looking shipshape fast?”  This language can easily be related to by the audience and creates humor within the brand.
