Saplings are grown in vacuum formed plastic trays, which are used for transportation and storage in nurseries. They are transferred in plastic bags and later when they grow more, the process is repeated. Bamboo & cane containers serve as permanent packaging, holding an antique appearance. Triangular containers can be tessellated as and when new ones are purchased. A paper mesh tray has been designed to transport them from nursery or gardening shops, to the point of use. This packaging system involves an element of playfulness alongside serving its primary function.
Unfired clay pods can be used as base for saplings, which can be either placed on a solid base or could be hanged. Clay pods can be directly planted in soil, since unfired clay shall melt when watered upon in soil.
The packaging primarily improves the face value of the product, giving an imperial feeling to saplings. The brand name is 'Roots' and the logo represents plants. The form of the logo is inspired from wax stamps which were used as seal stamps for documents. It also consists of a QR code which can be scanned to know more about the plant. Seed paper has been used for packaging, which is a bio degradable paper that can be directly planted in soil.
