The SLICE Camera exemplifies uncompromised Industrial designin a class of consumer electronics where common internal components often driveexterior esthetics at the cost of usability and harmonious form.  Kodak designers took great effort, on an allmetal housing, to keep symmetry and simplicity in the overall shape, mirroringthe value proposition of a camera that is equally a way to relive your Kodak momentand memory as much as capture them.  

Overall, Slice is a two part housing with the black LCDBezel stamped as part of a tapered band wrapping around the sides of thecamera; exercising great attention to detail in color break treatment.  The black bezel is flush to LCD glass and isa key element in visual break up of the body. The lack of extraneous clutter around the LCD screen enhances andimmerses the user in the capture and reliving experience.
The stamped metal front cover, with slightly pillowedsurfacing, aids comfort in hand and visual size as it tapers down to the edgesof the camera.  Along with the zoning oflens area, the horizontal high polish banding, contrasting the fine bead blastbottom, continues to pick up on the heritage of Kodak camera’s of the pastwhile maintaining relevance today.

Being a touch screen camera, SLICE emphasizes only theessential’s in hard controls.  The Kodakdesigners have drawn attention to the functional elements of the camera throughzoning of the power, shutter and zoom buttons. The light pipe around these three elements serves to connect emotionallywith the consumer almost as if the camera is coming to life.  

TheSLICE camera is the first step to defining a new digital camera experience in amarket oversaturated with a lack of differentiation from product to product,while possibly being the stepping stone for a unique brand DNA.
