Irfon Shallows

When the river Irfon runs low in the summer months it reveals pale, smooth, water-worn rocks. The quality and colour of this rock stands out from the more usual dark, slatey stone of the hills, which has been quarried for building through the centuries.

In these images, which are small details of much larger photographs, I have explored tonal abstractions and pattern making. I quite like how they take on some of the qualities of watercolour paint.
