This eight minute film is the culmination of an analysis into the mainstream phenomenon of dance in the media; thus examining the seemingly greater preference in experiencing dance on film versus live dance in theater. STAATSTHEATER KASSEL hosted and premiered NO. 4 at a series of performances which showcased the creations of the dance artists directly associated with the theater. The spoken text is the predominant inspiration for NO. 4, while a digital still camera was used to create its footage. Instead of beginning with concrete choreography, the movement was improvised and at the conclusion of the shoot, specific footage was selected to continue through to the Editorial Choreography process. NO. 4 has since garnered international nominations and awards.
