Using Semiotics to explore design concepts found in traditional Chinese fashion. (These 4 posters are designed as 4 particular themes based on 4 design principles from traditional Chinese clothing, and each theme comes from one semiotic approach.)

Theme I: Reflection
Chinese traditional patterns look like the things directly from the nature. On the image, the traditional flower patterns (on the right side) reflect the real flowers (on the left side). (Hand drawing Chinese patterns.)
Theme II: Translation
I use two hands movements and three layers transparency papers to show the theme 'Translation'. 
Theme III: Connection
This poster shows traditional Chinese concept - 'Ying-yang'. One page with a modern woman and one page with a historical look man are weaved together. 
Theme IV: Substitution
Substitution tries to express the traditional Chinese color system. For example, this poster shows the color yellow. Chinese believed yellow relate to the taste - sweet. So I use honey cones to create the patterns and exhibit on the clothing
