For 30 years (1981-2011), the Space Shuttle was NASA's ex-libris, and certainly the most recognisable spacecraft in the world. 5 operational and space-fit shuttles have been built: Columbia, Challenger, Discovery, Atlantis, and Endeavour. The 5 shuttles fit for space performed a total of 135 space missions, flying 355 astronauts into space.
This Limited Edition poster collection dedicates one poster per shuttle, with the exception of the ill-fated Challenger and Columbia orbiters - both vehicles have been destroyed mid-flight (the Challenger in 1986, during launch, and the Columbia in 2003, upon re-entry to Earth). Both shuttles are remembered in a joint image. The 14 astronauts killed in both disasters are remembered by the 14 stars included near the shuttles' names.
