1000 Beats per minute - Hummingbird Print

'One Thousand Beats per Minute' has been created to raise funds for an exhibition at Art Hub Gallery in Tunbridge Wells this October

Displaying one of nature's hardest workers!  The print will go on sale via kickstarter at less than half price with just 20 prints available at each price point.

About The Hummingbird

These beautiful creature's wings can beat 80 times a second. They live on nectar and can pack on 40 per cent of their body weight in fat for migration and their hearts, which are proportionately larger than the heart of most other animals and represent approximately a quarter of their total body weight, can beat at a staggering 1000 beats per minute or more!

The Print

'One thousand beats per minute' captures the beauty and delicacy of the hummingbird with it's power and dynamism.  I have introduced symbols of broken glass, representing success and achievementalongside tears and hearts, representing love and loss to feature alongside this beautiful bird.

The Original Painting

This painting was originally created in calligraphy inks, teas and alcohols and finished with 24 carat goldleaf on handmade circular paper with deckle edges for an exhibition in New Zealand called Chimera which is currently running at Quirky Fox Gallery.  The original sold before reaching the exhibition but does have a partner piece! - have a look at www.quirkyfox.co.nz for more details!
