OSCAR
A cafe and roastery in the heart of Copenhagen
We were commissioned to design Oscar's new space in Copenhagen, where the company plans to integrate its roasting lab with their own cafe. We decided to approach the task by thinking of the space as a coffee laboratory, this influences heavily on the aesthetic and materials present in the interior. Stainless steel and big white surfaces characteristic of science research spaces were widely used to create a distinct language, while wooden and soft seating solutions were placed to tone down the sterility and coldness of the materials, the original concrete floor is to be restored and the ceiling cladded with acoustic panels, as a requirement to reduce noise levels to the upper floor levels in this historic building.
