With this self portrait of myself in the cloth mask, I wanted to capture my own fragility as a person who is at high risk of complications from COVID.

The path behind me in this painting frequently has folks zipping along on those rental-able motorized scooters. People will fly down the river walk path with joy, weaving in and out of pedestrians and other obstacles alike. Meanwhile I feel like I'm sitting in the centre of that path way... folks flying by me with abandon... knowing that if they were to accidentally collide with me, it would be an encounter that they would walk away from, but I would not.
