Hay muchas lechuzas en mis dibujos. No están relacionadas con una supuesta sabiduría, sino con paz y estar atentas. Estas aves tienen grandes ojos. Los ojos son clave en cualquier retrato. No importa cómo es mostrado, animal o persona, el artista (pintor, dibujante o fotógrafo), presta mucha atención al detalle y foco en los ojos. Son cruciales para comunicar cualquier cosa, y muchas veces, comunican mejor que las palabras.
Estas aves tienen grandes ojos bien abiertos. Nos dan la sensación de estar atentos al ambiente que los rodea.
Son noctámbulos, como yo lo soy.
Finalmente, se toman todo el tiempo para parpadear. Mucho más que cualquier otro animal. Es la forma que tienen de hacerlo, claro, pero me gusta pensar que un animal que se toma tanto tiempo para parpadear, tiene mucha paz... Sé que es un sinsentido, pero me gusta verlas parpadear y pensar que están tranquilas y en paz.
Me encantan, y es por eso que aparecen en mis dibujos. Es como las manos y ojos, y las caras tristes o enojadas. Una prolongación de mis propios sentimientos y sensaciones.

Eyes are crucial to communicate anything, and sometimes they communicate better than words.
These birds have big, open eyes. They give us the sensation of being aware of the environment that surrounds them.
They are noctambulant, as I am.
And finally, they took a lot of time to blink... more than a man or any other animal blink. It's the way they do, but I like to think that an animal that takes so much time to blink, has a lot of peace... I know it's non sense, but I like to see them blinking and think they are quiet and in peace.
I love them, and that is why they appear in my drawings. It's like hands and eyes, and sad or angry faces. A prolongation of my own feelings and sensations.
