In the far far future Earth has become inhospitable.
An anomaly has caused the big mass of digital data accumulated by humanity to become physical, causing pollution and corrosion to the environment, threatening human existence and accelerating the already alarming deglaciation.

The Board of Dascalia, part of a program that gathered the finest minds on Earth, was formed in order to find a solution for the rapid decline of the condition of the planet.

Some members started to lose faith in this program and decided to take advantage of their position by designing favourable living conditions only for a limited number of privileged people.
Not all the members of The Board conformed with this plan and, after the execution of some of the dissident, the remaining opposition decided to disappear before they would meet the same fate.
The remaining members created Dascalia, a floating flourishing metropolis with the ability to move on the water. This made it possible to migrate constantly towards the best conditions that can be found on the surface and to avoid the data storms that have been increasingly become more violent, driving people's brain to overload and madness. In Dascalia the quality of life is high and the habitants live a comfortable life interposed by years of hibernation inside a gel-like liquid that allows the regeneration from data pollution and to maintain a good quality of life by preserving the limited resources.

DASCALIA'S PEOPLE
The panorama around Dascalia is just a vast, endless, ocean.
The great past of the human history, its temples, its architecture, its metropolis, its monuments, the landscape, the fauna, even the mountains, everything is now submerged.
The Board, while researching for a solution to preserve the human heritage, discovered the astonishing waterproof proprieties of some typologies of physical data. As the time was running out, they used this discovery to build huge walls of data and placed them around few cities as emergency measure.
This was meant to be a temporary solution due to the high toxicity of the material.
But when the remaining members of The Board started to actualize their preservation plan, they activated a program of mass deportation into the data-cities. People didn't realize until too late what was happening. They were promised protection but they received a prison, a nightmare.
The cities are buried under hundreds of meters of sea and the quality of life is less than optimal. The data-walls that surround them, makes it impossible to escape. Criminality, poverty and diseases afflict the population and very little remains of the old buildings if not ruins and shadows of grandiosity, now lost into oblivion. The inhabitants, called Xedircyas, have a very short life span. The majority lives no more than 25 years and common causes of death are violence, starvation and, more than anything else, madness and suicide caused by the toxicity of the data-wa
lls.
XEDIRCYAS
The only way to escape the miserable life of the submerged cities is to volunteer as guinea pigs for a series of experiments called T.A.M.T.U. which aim is to create a new human species that is able to live both on the surface and underwater. The experiments are bioengineering attempts to merge the characteristic of marine fauna with the human one. No good result has until now been reached by the scientist of Dascalia and the creatures resulting from the trials, monstrous hybrids between the two species, are set free in the open sea where they join the rest of the remaining marine fauna and sea mutants. Little is known about their life after they have been realeased. Some say that they don't survive more than one year, other say that they live a long life of freedom in the vast ocean
A small group of people were able to escape the deportation and built a little movable island with floating junk that they called Awild.
Awild is a lawless land, inhabited by misfits and rebels, forged by precarious conditions and adapted to survive.
Ingenious and skilful, they have improved with time the floating island, able to move on the water at a significant speed. This gives great advantage to Awildians when escaping natural disasters, data storms and or when avoiding the radar of Dascalia.

AWILDIANS
Awildians and Xedircyas believe in a legend, passed down from generation to generation, that tells how The Board of Dascalia was already working on T.A.M.T.U., with advanced results, before the events of the internal secession took place.
The opposers may have been able to succeed in the experiment in secret, while the resources and energies of other members were directed into designing Dascalia. When escaping from the persecution, the dissidents took all the research related to T.A.M.T.U. with them, leaving the remaining members with empty hands.
This group of opposers could have used the successful results of T.A.M.T.U. on themselves becoming a new species of sea creatures with their roots still connected to the human race. Their ancestry, the Tiamat's Children, created an advanced civilization deep in the ocean and the legend says that they are preparing to fight Dascalia and start a chain of primordial chaos that will lead to a new era for the planet.
Some believe that the monstrous creatures created by Dascalia have found peace among the Tiamat's Children and they will be by their side, when the time will come.
