I found a piece of plank with in office and I wanted to try creating some art with it. I wasn't sure what I wanted to draw at first and I started exploring with it.

 

wood has got natural grain and special texture that appeals to me. I started following the grain and began to draw. As I painted with watercolor and gouache, ocean waves started to appear naturally. I was excited to see the gradient created by the mixed medium.

I tried to draw flowers but the effect wasn't good.

I wasn't able to complete the painting in one day, so I continued drawing after working hours. After 2 Days of hard work, my painting is almost complete!

I am thankful for Mark's generosity in letting me paint in his studio. The atmosphere in his studio is relaxing and nice, which lets me paint with full passion.

It's finally completed! I used black to paint the surrounding as a contrast to bring out the strong vivid colors in the middle.

 

The idea is coming from 2 basic elements: water and wood.

They are live with each other, 相生水木 五行流转 生生不息
