In the mid 80’s, a Peruvian TV series captured viewers’ attention: Gamboa. Eduardo Cesti interpreted the role of Major PIP(1) Gamboa, who would fight against feared and crafty delinquents. The series (which lasted for several seasons) stood out for action scenes and pursuits taking place in Lima.
(1) PIP stands for Policía de Investigaciones del Perú or Peruvian Police Investigation Department, a branch created in 1960 and integrated to Peru National Police in 1986, which held a group of detectives whose mission was to investigate crimes, protect politicians’ security and support justice procedures.
