Cigarette font

This is a poster we had to do that is supposed to sell our font.

"For my font, "cigarette", I decided to go with a literal representation of the font. A few ideas I thought about were: blowing smoke out of one's mouth with the smoke as the letters, putting out a cigarette and the butts forming letters, and smoking a cigarette that was actually a letter. I decided to use the idea of putting out the butts which form letters. While good in concept, the execution was weak and I was forced to do a more conservative layout that better showcases the letters. The style I chose for the illustration was supposed to be realistically drawn with line and color. However, after considering further, I decided to go with a simple style reminiscent of screen printing with contrasting colors (blue and warm grey). Stark white was used as a third color for contrast purposes, but also because the color reminds me of cigarettes. I decided to also use white for the font to reflect that."

A Tattoo Artist's Christmas card dream!

Made this as the front of a christmas card for my boyfriend, who is a tattoo artist. So the theme was to take a common tattoo like the dragon and put christmas-y things around it.
