I’m David Simpson and am the founder of dtsdesigns.net and DTS Designs Graphic Design & Photography Studio.
I have had a love for technology, digital media and art since I was a young child. Through exploring computer games, MS Paint, drawing, painting and of course experiencing the growth of the internet.
I got my first computer when I was around 8 years old in which I just wanted to play ‘Pin Ball’. I slowly started to explore the confines of MS Paint and develop so called ‘art’. As I grew older and got faster and better computers, I started playing with Photoshop, I just destroyed family photos by applying multiple filters at once.
At this time my main program that I used on any computer was that of MS Paint, this program was where I began the first development of ‘DTS Productions’. In the archive part of my portfolio you should be able to see the first logo I ever made for myself. With this new lease on life in developing branding and identity I started delving in to Photoshop and experimenting with its tools and such to create newer and ‘better’ brands.
I soon developed an understanding of many of the ins and outs of Photoshop 8.0 and my parents decided to give me Adobe Production Premium CS4 for my birthday and christmas where I soon developed skills within both Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator that allowed me to enter my second year of high school subject ‘Photography and Digital Media’ with plenty of knowledge to develop artworks to a high extent.
This course also led me to developing the poster for my high schools bi-annual musical ‘Beauty and the Beast’, you may also be able to find this poster in the archive section of my portfolio. This poster soon led to me becoming known throughout the school as ‘computer guy’ and ‘the graphic designer’.
I have completed many projects for the school including ‘The 2010 school promotional video’, posters for the Visual Arts Exhibition ‘WhatEvz’ and the multiple performances for the opening of the new Performing Arts Centre, including; Jesus Christ Superstar, Opening Night, Tabula Rasa and Girls of the Garden Club.
In recent times my works have begun to grow ever more complex with the starting block being the first artwork of my Senior High School career; ‘The Spectrum Process’, this assessment asked me to create multiple pieces expressing my own identity. Images of this assessment can be found in my portfolio. More recently I have been working on my final Senior High School artwork for Visual Arts. This artwork titled ‘One Giant Leap’ is a mix of motion and graphic design in conjunction to explore the impact that the media has had on society. More information on this Art Express entry can be found in the portfolio section of this website.
As of now, I have finished my High School education and am now experimenting with a video blog, doing various other graphic artworks and looking forward to begining my Higher Education at University in 2013.
The latest step I have taken is developing DTS Designs.net and allowing you all to see my work. Thank-you for visiting and I hope you come back soon to see what has changed! Read Less
