Being a voracious reader and lover of books has only helped. I love words, their sounds and uses, the way a description can flow, how they can paint a picture for the reader, help them imagine the sounds, scents, tastes, textures, and absolute reality of a character, an object, a thought or a place. While at Bidz.com, I wrote a Users Manual for the proprietary software used by individual merchants selling on the Bidz.com website. (I also managed the Merchants Department.)

In addition, I wrote the Monthly Newsletter which was sent to each merchant, introducing new sellers to each other, offering advice on writing their own descriptions, providing quick overviews of simple HTML, describing new categories and how best to use them, and providing information on new or revised policies. All of this experience came in very handy when I began selling online myself. Athough I was just a casual private seller on Ebay, my descriptions were informative and to the point, but also personable. Being perceived as approachable can make all the difference between getting and losing a buyer. Read Less
