I was born in Paris. At an early age, my habit of sketching fantasy vehicles everywhere drew attention to my creative potential. I was a bit of a 'wild child', though, and art school disciplines were not my scene. Instead, for three years, the two mature partners of an eminent Parisian consultancy were my mentors. Their passion for the design and creative use of typography was infectious; it's still an inspiration to me today.
But I didn't find my true direction until I joined one of the leading Parisian consultancies of the day. There I learned about the importance of brands and their image. It was their forte, and it became mine.
In the late '80s I was lured to London by a top US consultancy. It was a scary, exciting challenge, not least because of my poor English. In time my command of the language became more polished. So did my work; some of it won awards for the consultancies I worked for.
England had long become home to me when I started my own small consultancy. I was proud to win some serious pitches against the big boys during that time.
I went freelance some years ago. I enjoy the diversity that gives me. And in an age where many traditional skills have been lost and computers rule, I'm proud to say that although I wouldn't be without my Macs, I still start most of my work sketching by hand. Read Less
