I was hired as the Art Director for six crime magazine titles acquired in the purchase of Globe Communications. I redesigned the publications for mass distribution to a broader consumer audience. During this time I also worked as a design editor for other titles produced by American Media, such as The Globe, The Star and the Weekly World News.

I was Creative Director for the International Association of Corporate Real Estate Executives (NACORE). My creative duties included: art director of Corporate Real Estate Executive magazine, an award winning monthly association magazine about corporate strategic management; design of brand and marketing collateral for NACORE membership campaigns and trade shows and creative director of web site development. I also designed and produced catalogs, brochures, advertisements and signage for NACORE educational division The Institute for Corporate Real Estate.

Management duties included creative staff management, hiring recommendation, vendor services management, computer graphics equipment management, planning and purchasing. I did not report directly to the CEO, but participated in top level marketing strategy sessions and board level presentations.

I have produced one editorial cartoon per week and occasional feature illustrations for the Palm Beach Daily News on a freelance basis since they first launched a Sunday editorial page in 1992, and continue to do so. I also write a weekly column entitled Cartoonistry.

I also write occasional features as well as a regular column and blog entitled Cartoonistry, which takes a look at recent Palm Beach history through the metaphor of my past cartoons.

I have received three “Excellence in Editorial Cartooning” awards from the Florida Press Club.

I was hired as a member of an entrepreneurial division that was charged with developing new publications. We also helped to develop a prototype all-digital production path that was later implemented throughout all AMI owned operations. On this team, I participated in launching Soap Opera Magazine and Country Weekly Magazine, as well as other concepts that didn't make it through the development process.

Duties included Macintosh networked layout and production, copy editing, photo editing, caption and headline writing, and illustration.

I attended the Art School at East Carolina University with a BFA major in commercial art and a minor in painting. During this time I also served as Managing Editor and Cartoon Editor for the student newspaper, The East Carolina University Fountainhead. I also served as Vice President and Rush Chairman for Sigma Chi Delta social fraternity.

I accepted a job offer and left to pursue my career prior to receiving a degree.
