Dan Lorrimer (B.1987) completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts at the ANU in 2009.
Since, Dan has maintained a practice as a maker working in the fields art and design with a focus in sculpture. At the heart of Dan’s practice is a need to make, from Kinetic Sculpture to heavy bits of machinery. Dan’s work is often material and process based, using a range of metals, plastics, electronics and advanced processes like anodising and thermo forming.
Stimulus for Dan’s work often comes from the inherent beauty of mechanical objects and Machines. Dan relies on the function of a sculpture to define its own aesthetic. The work often plays with themes of movement, perception of space, light and illusion.
Dan is currently living and working in Canberra ACT. Read Less
