I have had a camera in my hand since I was five years old. I can remember my mother telling me to stop taking so many damn pictures of the cat and dog. I never knew 'taking pictures' would turn into a hobby and then a career. 6th Grade Computer Class is where I saw my first MAC computer. You remember those neon ice cube looking things? I fell in love with painting, drawing, photography and graphic design all through out high school.
During collage I snagged up a few awesome internships with a Yacht Interior Design company, a Local Newspaper and some local Wedding Photographers. I remember my first photography professor telling me that I should photograph people after seeing a ad design project I created around oranges and a grocery store. Go figure?! I started asking around school and my portfolio grew to include fashion magazine inspired, 'model-type' photos of hot collage girls and sporty jocks. I still didn't know I was falling in love with a fun hobby called PHOTOGRAPHY.
After graduating Lynn University with a Bachelor's Degree in Visual and Graphic Arts with a minor in Photography, I landed my first job which was my first interview, which was the only job I even applied for.
For 4 years now I have been wearing many different hats in my world of boutique studio portrait photography. My hats include: Studio Manager (from scheduling to sales), Main Studio Photographer, Assistant Wedding Photographer, Photo Retoucher, Editor and Keeper of all images produced, and Graphic Designer of everything from... marketing campaigns, mailers, eblasts, web design, client holiday cards, albums, books, banners, and anything else our clients need - Boutique means custom.
My work includes portraits of families, old and young, large and small. It also includes high school senior portraits, babies and models. I have learned to direct and control the parents while also wrangling young children, all the while laughing and enjoying the company of new personalities and genuine expressions on my clients faces.
Oh yea, and this company has a sister company of Custom Frame Designing. This includes designing around masterpiece, priceless art to our very own photographs and more. After creating your portraits, products and frames, we will even go to your house and custom design wall groupings for your home.
My story is just beginning. In the 4 years I have worked in this boutique portrait studio, I have learned more about running a small business than I ever thought possible. My portfolio has matured into a vast array of niches that I am not sure which to follow. I am glad for that though. I continue to enjoy experimenting with this ever changing passion of photography.
I am always up for new opportunities and challenges. Contact me to learn more, to start a group in my local town, or to work with me personally. Model's need portfolio work? I will trade.
Thank you for viewing my portfolio.
