Lock me in a room with me an excited writer, designer, functional artist, large rodent and/or just a swell art director and we're already halfway to something groundbreaking, if not wonderful. What I've always loved about this job is that at it's heart it's translation, only from within one language. So far, anyway. I think it was Einstein who said "Any intelligent fool can make things bigger and more complex... It takes a touch of genius - and a lot of courage to move in the opposite direction." And that, to me, is what I do (or try to do). Of course the "touch of genius" varies in both need and performance. What it comes down to though, is that you have understand something well - know it - before you can explain it simply. And learning new stuff pleases me.
